Monthly Tag Swap

Like allot of us one of my favorite altered artist is Tim Holtz.

 

 

So I was thinking it might be fun to swap Tim inspired tags.

 

They would be due the last Friday of the month starting with June (due 6/28)

Each month for the next six months you would make 2 tags

One to swap one to keep.

Requirements would be to use a

Number #8 size tag and alter it in some way using your paints, Inks, stamps, dies, punches, embossing folders, embellishments, trinkets just about anything from your statch will do.

The theme is up to you it can be anything that inspires you from sewing, to travel, flowers, holiday, vintage or even Steampunk.

  or check  www.Pinterest.com  (type in Tim Holtz altered tags in the search box ).  Both places will inspire you.

The goal is to have fun, create and share your art.

 

Playing Card Swap

Take a regular deck of cards and alter 10 of them front and back to exchange. The theme is "travel the world" and it can be different countries, cultures, modes of travel...the world is your creative jump start!

Wouldn't it be fun to end up with a ring like this? I hope you will be able to join in the fun in this 10 for 10! Swap will be due to Maura by July 15, and that should give you plenty of creative time to work on your world traveling.

June Gathering -Reminder

Hi ladies to kick start our new Gathering Schedule Mary and I have decided to host a Gathering in June.

 

Friday,  June 7th

6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

To be held at:

Mary Castilla

In Guilderland, NY

Pizza & Salad will be served

along with a Beverage and dessert

 

Two technique projects are planned for each artist to create*

There is room for 10-12 artists 

I hope you will join the us.
 

*Please bring tape, scissors, a craft mat,  two small paint brushes

(to be used with alcohol inks), and a water brush if you have one.
 

  The fee remains at $20.00 per person and can be paid at the gathering.

Just a reminder that the Giant Tag is due to me by Friday May 18th. If you are still working on it and planning on sending me your tag please let me know. So far I have received Donna's and Mary's.

Altered Art Cabinets Revealed!

We had a delightful art gathering last evening with yummy food (especially that popcorn), prizes, make and takes, and the highlight was the unveiling of our altered cabinets. Each one is so unique and evokes the personality of its creator. Here they are!

Spring Gathering "Thank You"

Miriam  and I  would like to extend a big THANK YOU  to everyone who was able to attend the gathering last night at Art Smarts.   We hope you all had a good time....we did!!!  Art Smarts was not a bad place to host this type of event....it was a little tight, but all in all, worked out fine.  In case anyone is interested, the cost to rent this space is $40.00 - contact me if you want the info.  Also, on this note, Sue Black mentioned to me last night that there is a church in Glenmont that she used to rent for her stamp camp and they charge $30.00....if you want more info on this space please contact Sue.

The Altered Cabinets were wonderful....one was more unique than the other....we sure are a talented group if I might say so!  Maura will be posting the pictures on the blog very soon.....and I hope to post them on my blog as well.

REMINDER - Art Gathering and Altered Cabinet Reveal this friday!!!

Hey Girls,

Just a reminder that this friday, April 5th, is the Spring Gathering and Altered Cabinet Reveal at Art Smarts - 5:30 PM - on the grounds of Hoffman's Playland, Rt. 9, Latham [conveniently located next door to Subway].  Food and fun awaits!  Miriam has planned two projects for everyone to do so please bring your basic supplies:  scissors, tape runner, glue stick, ink for distressing, etc.
