Our Christmas Gathering

 

On December 12th Michele Johnson and Sue Black hosted our Christmas Gathering.

I want to give them a big thank you for such a wonderful fun night.

Michele's home was decorated beautifully each room displaying her beautiful Christmas treasures, putting us in the Christmas Sprit.

Michele  made a homemade Italian dinner for us including desserts.

And hand painted  beautiful glass ornaments

as favors for us to all take home.

Winter Wonder Swap

Time for another swap! Since winter is upon us, why not make the best of it, and do some creating? Let winter be your guide for this swap. I think I will leave this wide open - you can create anything, let's just keep it at the 4"x4" size and under...small creations. You make 3, you get 3! This way, you can create just about anything that goes in a bubble mailer...atc's, 4x4 page, Inchies, twinchies, small canvas....the winter world is your oyster! Christmas Ornament Swap

I just wanted to remind anyone who is interested in doing the Christmas Ornament Swap - 3 for 3 - a size/shape close to an ATC or 3 ATC's, whatever you fancy - they will be due me [fran] by Nov. 30th.  Please let me know if you're planning to play....we have had such beautiful ornaments in the past and I would love to have as many players as possible...please!  There were only three gals who played in the August swap.  I know everyone has a full plate this time of year....but you're artists so I know you can put something together quickly… 1/2 hour here, 1/2 hour there..;-]

Tim Inspired Tags - Late but not forgotten

Ladies sorry I am sooooo late posting Aug tags. Having no laptop at present has me at a loss at times.
We had 2 tags for August Thank You Maura and Janice for taking the time to make them. 

I myself didn't even get to play in August or Sept. not sure where the months went but before I knew it, it was over and Oct. 1st was here.  But the past 2 months have been so much fun. Early in
 August I went to Ink About it in Westford Mass for a class with Wendy Vecchi, attended several local crops with good friends. and spent a couple different days shopping with either my sister, my niece and/or friends.  Sept was just as busy with crops, family,  my beautiful great niece Kaila's Sweet 16 Party,  traveling to Mystic Ct.  for the 1st Artology New England Retreat (4 days)  which was fantastic I will post pictures of that week end and what we learned from Cheryl Mezzetti soon.  I was home for 3 days  before I left for a 4-day crop on Cape Cod with Cool Crops, which was another fun filled weekend.  But wait...lol...I am not done I leave again on the 18th for another 2 days of classes with Dyan Reavely at Absolutely Everything in Topsfield, Ma., and since I will be so close to Salem, Ma. and it's so close to Halloween how could I not take an extra day to visit there since we all know what my favorite Holiday is...,  November brings another 3 day crop weekend only closer to home in Latham, NY with so many of my friends I can't wait to see them. OK, I know enough about my adventures...here are the 2 tags swapped in August...

Update on Art Night

Hi ladies, just wanted to give you a update on Art Night.
I have not forgotten about it and do plan to get it organized and started.
It's just that when I sat down with my calendar, like many of us,
I didn't know where I could fit it in with everything thing else I have going
on over the next couple of months,  and with the holiday season approaching.

So with that being said, The new time frame to start this venture will be in January.
We can talk more about it at the gathering on Oct. 25.  I hope to see you there.

My not so Fairy Witch Jar

Thank you Lori and Maura for hosting the Art Gathering Friday night. I think I speak for all there we had a fab time. I so enjoyed the project you had planned for us. And a special thank you to you both for the Witch fairies and ceramic cat on the pumpkin they just made my night.

Hi ladies; Again sorry about not getting to see you all Yesterday, but today I printed out the directions for the fairy lite and am looking forward to making mine. I will be in the hospital Tuesday for blood work and then again Friday for an IV. Wed and Thursday if all is well I could meet someone to pick up my clock as I would love to alter one please let me know day and time. Again I am very sorry but If I must take pain meds I cannot drive. So hear from someone soon Much Love Donna

Christmas in August

Due to several requests [mine included] I have postponed the August ornament swap which was due to me by August 15th.  Ornaments will now be due to me by September 10th.  If you want to send them to me earlier that will be fine - but I will not exchange them until after the 10th of September.  If you need my address or any other info on this exchange you may either call me or email me at franpascazio@gmail.com.  I hope this gives many of you an opportunity to particiapte!  Enjoy the remaining days before Labor Day/Summer!!!

Bill, thank you for the terrific job as chief cook and bottle washer - you are special!  Lori, thank you for opening up your home to all of us again.  You gals always do such a wonderful job!

Hey Gals,

I meant to send out a reminder earlier this week, but I'm sorry I forgot.  Just wanted to tell you if you have your Christmas ornaments ready for the exchange and you're going to the gathering at Lori's tomorrow you can give them to me then.  This will save you some postage....remember to bring a return mailer with postage so I can return them to you.  If your ornaments are not ready [mine aren't]the deadline to get them to me is August 15th - and if anyone still wants to participate but needs a little more time just let me know and I'll extend the swap until after labor day.  I would love to have a lot of you talented gals participate.  I know, I know, it seemed like such a long time since I posted the swap and now here it is right in our laps.   Remember this exchange will be repeated - due date to me will be around Nov. 30th. 

Looking forward to seeing most of you tomorrow and and will miss the gals who will not be present!

Art Night

Hi Ladies,

As some of you know over the past several months I have been taking all kinds of classes and learning lots of new techniques using paints, stains, inks, stencils, Twinkling H2O's, Copic Markers, and the list goes on and on.... I have had so much fun learning all this new stuff that it got me to thinking that it might be fun to get together once a month for a Art night.

What I am thinking is that:

On a designated night each month we would get together for a couple hours and learn from each other.

Those of us that are comfortable in doing so could share new or even old ideas that we have learned. (But to make this work we would all hopefully take a turn).

A schedule of what is being taught would be provided ahead of time so that you would know what we are doing in advance.

The instructor for the night would pick the technique, make up kits for each and provide the product she is using for her class.

A set materials fee will be collected each month going to the instructor to offset the cost of the materials being used.

What I need you to do is think about this and let me know if you would be interested in attending. Also let me know what night would be the best, I am working on a place or places where we could hold this so that it would be convent for all.

Fairy Luminary

Ladies, here is a sneak peek of the project we will be doing at our August art gathering. Thanks to Lori and Doris for helping me with the idea!

Materials to bring if you have them: detail scissors, inks or paint, detail brush, wire cutters, pliers, 3 in 1 glue or similar, special items you want to add to your jar such as flowers, a figure, fossil like I did or rock to put your tea light on, glitter...we will have the basics, you bring any unique things you especially want.

Around the World and Back Again

Three of us took up the challenge to travel the world and record our "journeys" on playing cards. Thanks Doris and Janice for joining me on the adventure! We have some delightfully creative interpretations of travel to share with you. What I ended up doing was swapping out the cards so we each have 4 from each other and 2 of our own to make a better mix.

Project: Mason Jar Fairy Luminary - we are going to use a small mason jar, tea light , Resin fairy which you can fancy up, wire to hang it, and we will have such things as beads, papers, ribbons, moss, stones, etc. to add to your jar to make it unique. You will take home a sweet little light you can hang in your garden to enjoy the rest of the summer.

Supplies: glue such as 3 in 1, scissors, paint/ink/stain/glitter if you want to fancy your fairy up, any small unique items you personally want to add to your luminary (if I think of more after I do our sample, I will let you know)

Dinner: Backyard Barbecue with Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Salads and Dessert

Cost: $20.00 per person

Limited to the first 12 responses

Just for fun I thought I would start posting a couple of pictures of something I am working on to see if you can guess what the end results will be. I will continue to post a pictures until the project is finished ....here's the first.

I will tell you I stared with the Kaiser Craft Advent Calendar Box, painted it black and added some of the dividers for the drawers.

Altered Clock Create and Show

I have ordered a dozen of these Tim Holtz assemblage clocks for us to alter and share at an upcoming gathering. I will have them available for you at the summer gathering in August (details soon on that - keep August 9th open). I have been able to purchase them for $8 each (clock + shipping). Christmas in August [and November]!!!

Hey Girls,
I had originally wanted to post this swap in May and call it "Christmas in July", but with June already upon us and running I decided to do a "Christmas in August" ornament swap instead.  Actually this is a double swap and I'll explain.  I am asking you to create 3 Christmas ornaments due in August and 3 ornaments due at the end of November.  In the past we created the ornaments on an ATC - I thought I'd switch it up and let you use your imagination.  You can still use an ATC for the ornament or you can use a chipboard shape or anything else you like as long as it is NOT LARGER than an ATC and as long as it can be hung on a tree.  The first set of 3 will be due to me by August 16th and the second set due to me by November 30th.  PLEASE REMEMBER the bubble envelopes now cost $2.07 to mail.  If you would like, and you are attending Lori & Maura's gathering in the summer {date to be announced}, you can bring it then even if it is after the 16th.  If you don't participate in this August swap and you want to join in the November one it will be fine. . . you don't have to do both if you choose not to.  My address is 41 Sheldon Ave., Latham, NY 12110 and my email is franpascazio@yahoo.com.  So let's pull out some of our Christmas treasures and let's get busy!!!
